Three Questions is a new Next Stage series. Over the coming months, we will feature social good leaders from across the region who are partnering in new and innovative ways to create big community change.

1. Tell us about 24 Foundation’s proudest accomplishment last year.

Yet again, 24 Foundation did an excellent job coming up with creative ideas to keep our constituents involved in a safe way. We shifted to both a virtual and in person flagship event, raising nearly $1.3 million in support of the cancer community.

2. What do you hope to change this year?

We don’t have plans to change anything this year, but we do have plans to expand upon our pandemic-inspired innovations. We’d like to create a stronger virtual event experience platform, utilizing resources like Strava to allow participants to follow along on our actual event course. While there is a strong desire by many to return to pre-pandemic in-person events, we work with an at-risk population and need to offer options that keep them safe and supported.

3. 24 Foundation is a nonprofit, but it’s mission is also highly applicable to the private sector. Why should companies care about your mission?

24 Foundation is the subject matter expert on cancer navigation in the Charlotte area and beyond. Cancer impacts everyone, regardless of race, religion, or socioeconomic status. At any time, cancer could strike your family members, friends, and colleagues. When adults, children, and families are facing a cancer diagnosis, the upheaval creates a ripple effect personally and professionally. Companies who partner with 24 Foundation are investing in a network of essential resources for their employees, loved ones, and the community as a whole.
